GMA Network’s flagship FM station DWLS FM 97.1 sports a new strapline “Tugstugan Na” in response to tightening competition among local “masa” (Hot AC) stations in Metro Manila, Philippines.
This new branding hopes to further reinforce DWLS’ commitment to be the leading FM radio choice of Metro Manila listeners.
In an interview via 24 Oras earlier tonight, the DJs of the station expressed that the new branding will bring in more fun and music entertainment while retaining its talk-based programs like Barangay Love Story.
With the new slogan “Tugstugan Na!”, is the station now leaning to a more rhythmic programming? The catchphrase is a play of the terms “tugtugan na” (it’s soundtripping time!) and “tugs”, a slang coined after the bass or pounding sound of dance music (tugs tugs tugs).
