Spirit FM Lucena

Manila-based OPM alternative band Childstar was commissioned to sing the brand new station ID jingle for Spirit FM.

Spirit FM is the flagship brand for all FM stations in the country that are affiliated or operated and owned by the Catholic Media Network. There are currently 21 stations under the wings of CMN.

However, 15 of the 21 stations carry the Spirit FM logo. CMN Station in Cebu, for instance is branded as Power  89.1. While DXDD FM in Ozamiz is known as 100.7 Cool Radio.

Childstar is composed of Aaron Plata (Guitars), Brenton Bernardo (Guitars), Francis Vista (Bass), and Jeffrey Castro (Drums).

Tiger 22 Media Corporation

Earlier this month TRPI stations (The Radio Partners Inc), a group of radio stations in Manila, teased listeners of a new development to be unveiled on December 25, 2011. The campaign dubbed “Get Ready To Be Zapped” was aired on Jam 88.3, Wave 891, Magic 89.9, 99.5 RT, 103.5 WOW FM.

It was later revealed that websites of the said stations are re-launched with a new design, along with the announcement of TRPI’s new name Tiger 22 Media Corporation.

Tiger 22 Media Corp., also known as The Radio Partners, Inc. (TRPI), is a Philippine-based company, focused on providing management and marketing consultancy for radio companies in the country. Under Quest Broadcasting Inc., The company currently serves five FM stations and 1 AM station in Manila, and five provincial FM stations. These stations are Jam 88.3, Wave 891, Magic 89.9, 99.5 RT, 103.5 WOW FM and the Killerbee’s provincial stations. TRPI is owned by The Vera Group, which also owns its sister companies FBS Radio Network.

Prior to the 1986 formation of the Quest Broadcasting Inc. (then SBS Radio Network), the company started to expanded its provinces in Bacolod, Cebu, Cagayan De Oro, Davao, and General Santos City in 1992, under the branding name Killerbee. In 1989, it started its Metro Manila flagship station Magic 89.9 directed to the AB market which up to present has not changed the programming and branding. In 1992, The Vera Group bought and took full control of Quest Broadcasting from the Sarao family.

In 1995, the company acquired the defunct standards station DWCS 103.5 and reformatted as 103.5 K-Lite (now 103.5 WOW FM) through Advanced Media Broadcasting System; and in 1996, acquired the legendary radio station 99.5 RT from the Tuasons family, through Real Radio Network Inc.

In 1998, they acquired Raven Broadcasting Corporation from Francis Lumen, with Citylite 88.3 (now Jam 88.3) as its addition to the family. In 2001, TRPI and Intercontinental Broadcasting Corporation went into a government-sponsored bidding for the sequestered station 89.1 DMZ and TRPI won the rights to purchase the frequency, changed its branding to Wave 891, through Blockbuster Broadcasting System.

TRPI now owns 5 Metro Manila stations, 1 AM radio station in Metro Manila, and 7 Killerbee stations in the provinces (although 2 stations were affiliates in Zamboanga and Dumaguete). Butuan had also a Killerbee affiliate, but it lasted until 2008. The station is now known as Caraga’s Hit Radio 102.3, while further developments are undertaken.

TRPI has also been expanded into events such as Philippine Models’ Weekend and SIBOL.

In 2010, Quest and TRPI added its new affiliate, Radio Boracay RB106.

Christina Perri’s A Thousand Years tops the list. Bruno Mars It Will Rain came in second.

Jessie J holds on to the countdown with Domino at no 3. While Zia ranked 4 more notches from 8 to number 4.

Capping off the Top 5 is former number 1 Jason Mraz with The World As I See It.

There are three returnees to the countdown, Britney Spears with Criminal, T Pain with 5 O’Clock and Simple Plan – Astronaut.

Better Than I Know Myself Cover Art

Adam Lambert has released a new single titled “Better Than I Know Myself” which will be part of his upcoming album to be released next year called “Trespassing”.

The American Idol Season 8 runner up announced the single on his Twitter and provided link to a Yahoo article. The post embedded a Sound Cloud player with a snippet of the said track.

After his successful concert series in 2009, Lambert revealed in a Rolling Stone article that he lied low.

“I was dramatically shut in!”

“At first I was trying to figure out how to please my fans – but then I started trusting my instincts. It’s the same as what I learned on Idol. You have to fight for this shit.”

Fans on Sound Cloud were raving about the track:

“Adam you’re taking us to new heights with your voice in this track! ” comments Carlos Rodriguez.

Radio DJs of MOR 97.1 Lupig Sila DJ Piolo Askal and Baby Jelly were seen on the intro of a new music video for the song “While We’re Still Young”. The track is sung by duo Bret Jackson and James Reid, also known as We Are Whatever.

MOR 97.1 or DYLS FM is ABS-CBN Radio’s FM station in Metro Cebu. The band We Are Whatever are contract artists of Star Records, also a sub-company of ABS-CBN.

James and Bret were former housemates from the celebrated Pinoy Big Brother reality TV show on ABS-CBN.

James Reid, declared winner for that season or edition, was born Robert James Reid on May 11, 1993. He joined PBB while he was 17 years old. He came from Australia. James was a gymnast and a swimmer. He moved with only his father to the Philippines, leaving his mother, brothers and sister back in Australia. James was having troubles adjusting in the country as he is experiencing problems with a different academics and social skills, especially the language. James is the only teenternational housemate who has Filipino blood.

Bret Jackson, born Bret Alan Jackson II on March 15, 1991), joined PBB when he was 19 years old. He is originally from the USA. Bret has been living in the Philippines for almost 7 years. He was an abused child back in the US where his biological mother used to abuse him physically and emotionally. He left with his father to live in the Philippines with his Filipina stepmother. A resident of Dumaguete at the time of his participation in the PBB, Bret studied in Silliman University in high school and in college. He was president of his Medical Technology batch, a varsity player of the swimming team, and a band member.He is able to speak Bisaya but not as well in Tagalog.

Internet station Blazin100.com listed down the best produced and most viewed music lyric videos of 2011.

Topping the list is Moves Like Jagger by Maroon 5 featuring Christina Aguilera. The MV was posted on June 14, 2011 and received the Silver Award or one of the Recently Most Popular video on YouTube.

Moves Like Jagger was first performed live on TV via the talent show The Voice with Adam Levine, the bands front man and Christina Aguilera. The song was an instant when it was officially released. And with fans looking for a video to watch, the producers and the label immediately released a lyric video to go for the moment.

The official music video of “Moves” was released two months later. As of this posting, the lyric version already has 65+ million views.

Included also in the list are fan-made videos, which were done so creatively they even matched those of the pros. And you’ll also see amateur creations that went so viral. Guess, it’s the song and the lyrics that matter.

Third Rock Radio

NASA indeed has launched an online radio station, but they’re not broadcasting from space though. It’s called Third Rock Radio and the slogan goes “America’s Space Station.”

The radio station runs on a rock and alternative format showcasing rocks from independent artists.

The said project is a collaboration between RFC Media and the NASA.

“NASA constantly is looking for new and innovative ways to engage the public and inspire the next generation of scientists and engineers,” said David Weaver, associate administrator for NASA’s Office of Communications, in a statement.

“On THIRD ROCK, you’ll hear New Rock of all kinds, including a whole galaxy full of new music that seems to go largely unexplored by ordinary radio.” – RFC Media Website.

KKB Web Radio

KKB or Kristiyanong Kabataan para sa Bayan has announced the launching of their online radio station KKB Web Radio. The station plays Contemporary Christian Music like Chris Tomlin, Hillsong, Jeremy Camp and Casting Crowns.

The station uses Ustream as their broadcast platform.

For as long as there has been radio, love-advice programs have been entertaining listeners with stories sent by ordinary people.

IFM 93.9 (DWKC FM) takes on the classic program, in its purest form, asking for letter senders to share their stories of love, heartaches, struggles, joys and even strange ones.

Dear iFM an afternoon is implemented on all IFM stations nationwide. In Manila, DJ Megandang Megan shares a story from a letter sender usually ending with soliciting advice from the announcer. The DJ would ask her listeners to participate through text or phone in.

While other station’s like Tambayan 101.9 and Love Radio are taking such a program to a new level, IFM sticks to the roots by giving the listeners a chance to share their opinions about the letter sender’s situation.
