  2. I am from Texas – and we lived in Batangas City for many years when my father was assigned there under the Agrarian Reform. Please help me re ignite the search for my brother Efraim whom we lost in 1979 after he went to see a movie in Batangas City theater. Not sure if this theater is still existence. I have the feeling Efraim is still alive and just don’t know how to return to us. (We have left batangas when my father retired). I have written a letter to Gov. Vilma Santos pleading her help from churches all over Batangas thru TV and radio stations especially the remote barrios, little barangays even the mountains.. that remained unanswered. The former Gov. Mandanas was my ninong in my wedding but doubt it very much if he remembers the family name Viray. My brother is a slow learner but has a huge built when we lost him at age 26 a month after I left for Canada in August 1979. His most distinguising feature – he limps as one of his foot is shorter than the other. Someone could have taken him also in Mindoro and when the military started searching for him – the person/s who took him probably got so scared and decided to hide his whereabouts. I remembered that at one time, the cleaner has mentioned that someone frequently talks with him inside the theater. Then – another vendor in the market had said – he always talk to a vendor in the market who likes him because he knows how to buy his favorite vegetables, etc.
Despite his deficiency – he can play chess, cook his own food and know he belonged to a family of 17 brothers and sisters the largest one-single family unit wherever we go in the Philippines. I have dreamt about him several times – I am willing to give more information about him and this message is being sent also to whoever took him that we will not press any charges. We just want a closure and if he was mistakenly killed we want to give him a descent farewell. Before I left for Canada – I promised him I will return for him before 1 year and buy him all his favorite rubber shoes.
My father passed away in Canada and in his deathbed – he mentioned that he probably will never see him again. Now, my mother is 88 years old and it will be a blessing that before she gets much older and weaker that we find something – what really happened to Efraim Viray. To anyone – who can give us any lead where to find him – may God bless you a thousand times. Thank you.

    Bong Viray
