Tamano: “Why, When ABS-CBN Favors Noynoy?”

“Bakit naman po ibibigay namin ang dokumento sa ABS-CBN na alam naman namin na bias o favor ang network kay Noynoy.”

“Bakit naman po ibibigay namin ang dokumento sa ABS-CBN na alam naman namin na bias o favor ang network kay Noynoy.” – Atty. Adel Tamano, Nationalista Spokesperson explains in a phone in DZMM interview this morning with Gerry Braja and Anthony Taberna following accusation that the Nationalista party supposedly made up and handed over the documents to ABS-CBN pertaining to Liberal Party Presidentiable Benigno “Noynoy” Aquino III having a history of “massive depressive disorder”, as a “black propaganda”.

Earlier in a report via ABS-CBNNews.com, Aquino stated that “What they’re doing is that they came up with this work of fiction”. Tamano, in the interview further reasoned that there is no way this black propaganda against Noynoy can benefit the Nationalista party.

Whatever the truth though, it is ugly to see and hear both parties, claiming to be opposition, throwing stones against each other. I am not surprised though when Tamano mentions the slanting of ABS-CBN toward Noynoy.

Anthony Taberna and Gerry Braja followed up Tamano’s statement saying that they respect his opinion. Tamano closed the interview thanking the two anchors for the fair opportunity given to them.

Although apparently the Lopez-run company leans in favor to Aquino, I still commend the company for its effort in maintaining credibility in its news and public affairs activities. I hope the people will appreciate their efforts.

Isang magandang Araw ng Kagitingan po sa inyo.

Charice Pempengco Takes On DZMM Station ID Jingle

Charice Sings DZMM Station ID Jingles

Charice Pempengco needs a label, no, not a recording label. She needs to be tagged, with all this exposure she’s taking, she should be named like something. What do you think is a good label for her? Everyone knows that she’s rising a star now. Internet Star, The YouTube Diva, the Whitney Houston clone? What?

Charice recently sang a new version of DZMM’s Station ID following the trails of Sharon Cuneta, Gary Valenciano, Sheryn Regis and Carol Banawa. DZMM exec Peter Musngi is delighted to have Charice singing their jingles which really made a good impression as listeners texted in their positive feedback.

Here is the report from ABS-CBN.com:

If you think the voice behind the latest version of DZMM Radyo Patrol Sais Trenta’s radio jingle sounds familiar, you’re right. It is familiar.

Because the voice behind that song is no other than international singing sensation Charice.

In an exclusive interview with Peter Musngi, ABS-CBN’s vice-president for Manila Radio Division (MRD), he said they decided to get Charice to sing the station’s jingle specifically to get the attention of young listeners.

“We are hoping that the young listeners will notice at baka sakaling ‘yon ang maging susi para ma-introduce sila sa DZMM,” Musngi said.

“Alam mo naman ang mga bata, nasa FM or nasa iPod ‘yan. But if they hear Charice singing the DZMM anthem, number one, they might be curious to find out why is DZMM the choice AM station of Charice in terms of lending her singing talent. Number two, maybe this is more important Charice actually is showing the way for all the other teenagers na you can, you know with talent and perseverance you can be a big success even you are so young,” DZMM’s big boss added.

Musngi said that after all the honors Charice gained from her international guestings abroad, it would be just right to give the young singer a chance to shine in her own country and be heard by almost everybody through DZMM’s anthem.

“Si Charice is very hot right now and I think what happened to her in Ellen DeGeneres and Oprah I think and [her guesting for the concert] in Las Vegas it brings a lot of honor or at least it put the Philippines in the center of entertainment kumbaga when it comes to talent. And I feel ‘yung mga accomplishments na ganoon especially with very young girl should be publicized and the same talent should be given a chance to shine. Dumating na siya sa punto na kahit bata pa siya ay malaking impact na ang nagawa niya so we thought that let’s try,” he said.

Musngi said he is thankful to Malou Santos of Star Records who did the arrangement for Charice to record the station’s anthem. He said they were delighted when Charice accepted their request. The song was recorded last Thursday, April 29, and after almost three weeks of preparations it was finally aired midnight of June 1, Sunday, over radio DZMM.

Her best

Meanwhile, a business development Officer of MRD, who declined to be named, also said that Charice gave her best recording the song despite the fact that the young star was really tired from her shows abroad.

“Nakuha niya agad at mabilis ang pagkuha niya sa kanta, hindi naman siya nagko-complain pero sabi nga niya mataas yung areglo ng kanta, actually medyo paos siya ng nag-record s’ya kaya nagulat kami na she did it. And before she went to recording alam na niya na for DZMM… the recording was okay and for me it’s malinis, malakas, very powerful and anthemic.”

Charice arrived in Manila last Wednesday, May 28, from her well-praised performance at Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas five days earlier for record producer David Foster’s benefit show, entitled “David Foster & Friends”.

Last Friday, May 30, Charice again left the country to attend Philippine Independence Day Parade in New York.

Musngi said that every year, they are search for talents who can give the DZMM anthem a new sound and a new energy and evidently they found it with the young diva. He said that they made the right decision to use the singing prowess of the young diva since they already receiving feedbacks from listeners through short messages saying that they like the newest station ID.

“Yung mga medyo bata-bata pa sabi na mabuti naman at si Charice ang napili niyo. Ano kasi yan Charice is not a superstar or megastar pero alam mo na she’s really rising and she achieved so much siguro thanks to the internet kasi doon siya nadiskubre but she’s really a talented.

Gratis

Musngi said they are really thankful to Charice, who, like the other great singers opted to share her talent through her rendition of DZMM’s anthem free of charge.

“The fact is napaka-busy ni Charice para isingit niya yan ibig sabihin she’s ready and excited to do it, sa totoo lang hindi namin binayaran si Charice para din si Sharon, Gary ‘yung mga kumanta na namabibigay na artists na ito they never asked for anything siguro alam nila na DZMM is not only just about news but also about public service,” Musngi said.

Musngi revealed that right now, DZMM is getting another male singer that will do a duet with Charice. He also said that DZMM’s anniversary CD compilation feature song rendition from different anchors and personalities. They will also include the version of Charice, he added.

The DZMM theme was first heard in 2005. It was composed by Jessie Lasaten and sang by Reuben Laurente, a former member of the music group The CompanY.

After Laurente’s rendition of the station’s anthem, great singers like Sheryn Regis, Rachelle Ann Go and Carol Banawa also sang the song.

When DZMM celebrated its 20th Anniversary at the Araneta Coliseum in 2006, the jingle was given a different twist when Megastar Sharon Cuneta sang her rendition.
