Who would think that a band named after a manga character in a video game can command serious attention in the music industry?

Sony Music’s newest recording act, Eevee, has proved yet again that you don’t judge a book by its cover—let alone its Pokemon-inspired name.

Composed of Enzo Miguel Villegas (vocals, guitars), Paolo Segura (lead guitars, back up vocals), Jerrick Sy (bass) and Craig John Neniel (drums), this Davao-based group is yet to mark a year together, but they have already achieved things more seasoned bands can only dream of.

The last quarter of 2011 is pretty exciting, in fact this year 2011, we’ve witnessed some of the biggest shifts in the music industry, like the death of Amy Winehouse.

2010 and 2011 are definitely the years of Adele, her single “Rolling In The Deep”  catapulted her into the mainstream, mostly dominated by rhythmic dance anthems and poppy tunes.

Adele is following up with a song called Set Fire To The Rain.

Christina Perri, an AC artist, is also among the shockers taking over the mainstream CHR sound. Her cross-format hit song “Jar Of Hearts”, still enjoying plenty of air plays, is succeeded by a new track “A Thousand Years.”

British band Coldplay has announced the release of a follow up to the hit song “Every Teardrop Is A Waterfall”.

The new track “Paradise” is the second single lifted from the album Mylo Xyloto.

The song was released today September 12, 2011.

The single had its world wide debut at exactly 7:50am on BBC Radio 1 on September 12, 2011.

The album will be released October 24.
