First Vote Goes to Manny Villar
Villar, Legarda, Ocampo and Masa Picked By First Automated Elections Voter
In this historical absentee voting taking place starting today for OFWs in Hong Kong, Rowena Dela Cruz, the first Filipino in line to feed her ballot on the PCOS machine, reveals she gives her vote to Nationalista standard bearer Manny Villar as reported in today’s radio program with Noli De Castro on DZMM.
Report further states the first “Philippine automated election” voter voted for Loren Legarda as her vice presidential bet and shaded only two names in the senatorial list, the names of which were Satur Ocampo and Lisa Masa.
Ms Dela Cruz has this very rare opportunity to be the first Filipino to vote in the first automated election. She is a Filipino and she works in Hong Kong. But instead of her coming home to vote, the election comes to her.
That’s how important our vote is. Makes me even more convinced that I should go home this May 10, 2010 to cast my vote, even if it means in my part, spending money, taking effort, and risking my life in a notoriously hostile place for elections. I am leaving for Mindanao to vote.
Tamano: “Why, When ABS-CBN Favors Noynoy?”

“Bakit naman po ibibigay namin ang dokumento sa ABS-CBN na alam naman namin na bias o favor ang network kay Noynoy.”
“Bakit naman po ibibigay namin ang dokumento sa ABS-CBN na alam naman namin na bias o favor ang network kay Noynoy.” – Atty. Adel Tamano, Nationalista Spokesperson explains in a phone in DZMM interview this morning with Gerry Braja and Anthony Taberna following accusation that the Nationalista party supposedly made up and handed over the documents to ABS-CBN pertaining to Liberal Party Presidentiable Benigno “Noynoy” Aquino III having a history of “massive depressive disorder”, as a “black propaganda”.
Earlier in a report via ABS-CBNNews.com, Aquino stated that “What they’re doing is that they came up with this work of fiction”. Tamano, in the interview further reasoned that there is no way this black propaganda against Noynoy can benefit the Nationalista party.
Whatever the truth though, it is ugly to see and hear both parties, claiming to be opposition, throwing stones against each other. I am not surprised though when Tamano mentions the slanting of ABS-CBN toward Noynoy.
Anthony Taberna and Gerry Braja followed up Tamano’s statement saying that they respect his opinion. Tamano closed the interview thanking the two anchors for the fair opportunity given to them.
Although apparently the Lopez-run company leans in favor to Aquino, I still commend the company for its effort in maintaining credibility in its news and public affairs activities. I hope the people will appreciate their efforts.
Isang magandang Araw ng Kagitingan po sa inyo.

Can We Still Trust Media?
I can’t help but question can we still trust ABS-CBN, GMA-7, DZRH among other radio, TV, and print news organizations? How do we know if what’s on the headlines are straight facts or a paid press release? Considering that there are entities who offer advertising packages to candidates that include exposure, coverage, interviews via their news and public affairs activities.
Here is a scenario, Mr. Candidate is paying TV network ACME an advertising package. Mr. Candidate wants not just airtime spots, but wants his name mentioned everywhere, everytime on TV, including news programs. Mr. Candidate pays a lot of money to ACME and ACME does not resist the offer. ACME can get away with this anyway. It’s always a valid excuse to say, media has the responsibility to deliver news to the masses.
In return, Mr. Candidate would ask ACME to increase emphasis and exposure to anything that involves him, even bad publicities against him. After all, he’s paid the network to let him appear anytime, so he can answer and face allegations.
Politics today is like a reality TV show, unfortunately what we see on TV is not all real. I should probably say that politics today is like a popularity contest, the more people are talking about you, and the more they see you on TV, newspapers or hear about you on the radio, the surer winner you are.
If media has the responsibility of delivering news to us. We as people has the responsibility to scrutinize the facts before deciding. It’s like eating. Chew your food first, chew it properly, before you swallow.

Stations Launch Summer DJ Hunt
I am now in the radio industry, all thanks to a jock competition. More than 10 years ago, it was because of my friend who was the one who really wanted to join. I came with him, without the intention of joining, but my friend got me a registration form, so I signed up for the competition anyway.
My friend was eliminated on his first round. I got through. And since my winning, I never looked back.
This summer, what a perfect time it is for DJ wannabes to give their best shot. I know two stations who are doing junior DJ contests.
99.1 Spirit FM is having DJ Idols and Monster Radio BT 99.5 holds Summer Jock. If you’re local station has a similar tilt, grab the chance.

How To Capture Internet Radio
MyRadio Blog Turns 1 Year Old

It’s been a year since I have been listening to this station. MRB or MyRadioBlog.com started March last year, and boy does time flies so fast. I have been supplying radio IDs for this station. But more the friendship we have with Al and all the DJs at MRB, I’ve learned to appreciate how dedicated these guys are to their internet radio station.
MRB may not be run by seasoned broadcasters but you can really feel the sincerity of the people behind this station. The efforts contributed by all DJs is what makes this station up and running. And because of their commitment, I and all their listeners continue to love MRB.
My well wishes for you guys this year is good health as always, because I know most of you are doing it in your extra hours. Happy Anniversary from RadioJingles!
