Metro Cebu is among the most dynamic radio markets in the country. Hot AC (or pang-masa) formats are ruling the airwaves. However, Top 40 stations influence many consumers as well, including the young market. Killerbee 92.3, Y101, BT 105.9, WAV FM 101.1, Wild FM 103.5 and Home Radio 106.7 are among the youth-oriented stations in the Metro. That’s how upbeat the A-B and 13-24 audience in the city, that they require 6 stations to cater their needs.

Home Radio 106.7 sets itself apart from other CHR stations by coming up with programs that are both traditional and ground-breaking. The station brands itself as “Today’s Hit Music”. I should say that amongst the Top 40 stations, Home Radio is the most youthful sounding, programming wise and DJ wise.

I happened to capture the mid morning programming of the station last October 29, 2010 with DJ Duwayne. DJ Nico is also a favorite personality from Home Radio Cebu.

Radio Jingles For 103.5 Wow FM, Manila

After a few weeks of being on the air, 103.5 Wow FM is already wowing listeners in Manila and the entire Philippines through their live streaming. The station has taken efforts to improve its programming and imaging as well. Recently, they went to Sound Quadrat, a radio jingle company in Germany to produce sung jingles for the station.

Sung jingles are important part of the overall sound especially if you are a masa station. Energy FM and Love Radio have jingles from ReelWorld, Star FM has jingles from JAM, iFM has jingles from TM Century. As a new station, you want to stand out and you don’t want your jingles to sound like everyone else. So, instead of going to the same companies, Wow FM, commission a German production outfit, Sound Quadrat.

They did an amazing job with the jingles. It sports a catchy 3 note logo, in the tradition of the Love Radio’s popular Kiss FM melody (toot toot toot!).

Radio Stations Play Gin Blossoms Hits Again

They were such a hit band in the 90s, but disbanded in 1997. No word from them since, “till we hear it from them” again!

Gin Blossoms is back and they are back with a new album. Radio stations are picking up “No Chocolate Cake” – their newest album released last September 2010. Lead singer Robin Singer, who was featured in an episode of LA Ink on TLC, was happy to see the band together. He revealed that their breakup wasn’t really for life.

The 90s alternative band Gin Blossoms will perform in Manila and Cebu. The band, who’s famous for such hits as “Till I Hear It From You”, “Follow You Down”, and “As Long As It Matters”, will be playing those hits once more along with new tracks from their new album “No Chocolate Cake”, November 18 for Araneta Coliseum Quezon City, and November 20 for Waterfront Hotel Cebu.

Radio stations are again playing their biggest songs, stations like Magic 89.9 and internet radio station Blazin100.com.

DWKX, formerly branded as 103.5 Wow FM, is an FM radio station in the Philippines owned by Advanced Media Broadcasting System, Inc.

On July 22, 2013 at 6:00am, after its nonattendance for very nearly 7 years, 103.5 was relaunched as the second cycle of 103.5 K-Lite with the new trademark, “The Hits and Lite Favorites”, and as a grown-up contemporary station. EJ Electric was the primary DJ to get onto, trailed by different athletes, for the most part from the Max FM/Wow FM program and different stations. The official dispatch was made on August 1, 2013. Amid its first weeks of operation, the stations studios stayed inside the Jollibee Plaza working, before it was exchanged back to Paragon Plaza.Since the relaunch, the station’s transmitter control minimized back to the normal ostensible point of confinement of 25,000 watts.

103.5 Wow FM Streaming Live

Justin Bibbo, Mr. Fu, Laila Chikadora and the rest of the Wow FM gang can now be heard and be seen on Ustream.TV. Ustream seems to be the go to nowadays for most radio stations for live streaming since it’s free, it comes with a chat service, and integration via Facebook and Twitter, plus the quality of streaming is good. At 128kbps or near CD quality streaming, most radio stations now prefer to stream over Ustream than pay for a shoutcast server for instance.

DYKC RPN Radio Broadcaster Arrested For Libel in Mandaue

Philstar.com reports that blocktime broadcaster Apolinario “Jun” Arigo of DYKC AM RPN Radio was arrested Friday night 9:45 PM Mandaue City Police for releasing libelous statements on the air against former Major Thadeo Ouano.

The libel case was filed against Arigo by former Mandaue City Mayor and now Provincial Board member Thadeo Ouano after Arigo, in his radio program, alleged that Ouano embezzled money
from the bank he used to work in and went to the United States, subsequently buying four franchises of a popular fastfood chain upon his return.

Ouano denied embezzling any amount from the bank, as shown by the certification issued by the bank itself, and further denied that he owned any fastfood branch.
